U-G-L-Y

T-shirt and necklace: Unknown
Jeans: Primark
Boots: Spain

Cheesy wink: Model's own

You ain't got no alibi, you ugly, ey ey, you ugly! (Shout out to an old primary school chant!)

Wore this out today (plus my trusty woollen jumper) to buy a new oven as my dad broke ours on Sunday, what's he like ey? I got this t-shirt way back when over summer and it just epitomises autumn to me. It also has that weird quality some clothes have where it's so ugly, it's almost beautiful (hence the post title and childish chant). I mentioned this quality in passing to my sister before to which she replied 'Oh, so it's like you then' errr I'll take that as a compliment.

I also got these jeans over summer when I finally decided that my very old skinny jeans were definitely too short now and I couldn't get away with rolling them up any longer *sad face*

Finally it's been yeeeears since I posted (okay it was only last March) so I'll get you up to date with what's new in my life:

  • I'm now a qualified girl having passed my GCSE exams in the summer, woop woop!
  • I almost have a job, watch this space!
  • I got Twitter for my blog - @TheTrendyTeen
P.S. This new Blogger layout baffles me!

Pastels | Everybody, Everywear

Hi everybody, my name's Bethan and I'm a pleather-skirt-aholic.

This skirt's been present in three out of four of my last outfit posts. I do have more than one skirt in my wardrobe. Promise. One day, if you're lucky, I might even show them to you.

I spent the night at my friend Lucy's for a Come Dine with Me evening and I ate an insane amount.  Forget food baby, I'm talking food twins. But it was hard not to when the food was so delicious. We ate bruschetta with goats cheese for starters, chicken curry and rice for main and lemon tart and chocolate brownies for desert (did you read that in the Come Dine with Me voiceover guy's voice?)

The dress code was dressy (just an excuse for us to dress up and wear heels really) but being 5'9" I don't really need to wear heels so I stuck to my trusty two-tone brogues. I also tried to curl my hair with curling sticks but by the end of the night (and by the time I took these photos) all the curls had fallen out. I bought this top in the January sales for a pound, okay fair enough it's a size 16 and a tad on the big side but it's perfect for tucking into skirts and shorts. This is my first pastel look of 2012, may there be many more!

Spread your wings and fly away

Hat, skirt, belt - Primark
Jumper - Charity Shop
Tights - unkwown
Nails: Barry M Mint

Classic Batman socks

I'm abit of a walking advertisement for Primark today, oh well. Bought a mini-haul of accessories in Primark at the beginning of February and this belt and hat were part of it. It always amazes me how important accessories are for an outfit, how colourless would this outfit be without my hat, belt and nails?

Spread your wings and fly away
Fly away far away
Spread your little wings and fly away
Fly away far away
Pull yourself together
'Cause you know you should do better
That's because you're a free man

(I'm a little bit obsessed with Queen right now)

Just some pictures

I'm feeling really uninspired and unmotivated at the moment -  I went to a flea market today and saw so many beautiful things and bought none of them, isn't that silly? I think I just need to have a spring clean and sort my wardrobe and room out. There's my half-term planned!

So I've just been sorting through the laptop and found some pictures which I liked and thought I'd share with you, I can't provide links to the pictures because most of them were saved last summer, sorry about that :)

The last picture is of the box I decorated with magazine cut-outs last summer, I've been meaning to show you guys for ages! Hope you're all having a lovely weekend x

Happy Chinese New Year!

Dress: Charity Shop
Lipstick: MUA Shade 13

Gong Hei Fat Choi!

I've been waiting for the right occasion to wear this dress since I got it last summer and Chinese New Year seemed so appropriate (with it being red an' all) Add some red lipstick, delicious food and family and I was ready to start the year of the dragon in style! Now I'm just off to nurse my food baby...

OOTD: Bee loves sale buys!

T-shirt - Market stall
Skirt - Primark
Tights - Primark
Blush - 2tru from Superdrug
Lipstick - MUA Shade 11
Gormless expression - Model's own

My brain's barely functioning today - I blame it on revision and the cold weather (when in doubt, blame the cold), so I'll keep this post short and sweet:

  • I got this skirt in the Chester sales. Some people go frantic and animalistic during the sales - rifling through every clothes rail for anything they can find. I am one of those people.
  • If there was an award for the most creased outfit, this outfit would win, hands down.
  • It's Chinese New Year tomorrow and I'm spending the evening with the family, yay! I'll be a few pounds heavier tomorrow, I just can't resist my gran's cooking :)

My Sunday in Pictures

Revision = my weekend...how sad

Tried to tidy my room today...failed

Old photo I found of the Christmas cakes my friends made for me, yum! :)

Does't my Sunday sound fabby? (Don't answer that.) My next week will be exactly the same - schoolwork and revision, and I need to get my room tidy for next Monday (that'd be a miracle.) Monday 23rd is Chinese New Year and I'll be spending the night at my grans - eating, drinking and being merry...all I can say is roll on the 23rd...

Weekly Want-it: Apple & Sultana Cake!

My gran has a huge apple tree in her garden which this year bore an insane amount of fruit. We spent a whole Saturday picking apples (my social life rocks) and by the end we'd collected around 6 crates. Now as a family we eat alot of apple crumble and apple pie but not even we could eat that much so she gave a few crates away to her neighbours and as a thank you one of them gave her this lovely recipe.

P.S. I wasn't keen on the idea of apple cake at first but give it a try, it's delicious!

The Ingredients
  • 12oz self raising flour
  • 8oz butter
  • 6oz caster sugar
  • 4oz sultanas
  • 1lb apples
  • 3 eggs

The Recipe

First of all line your tin with baking paper, not foil (we just had no baking paper left). I used an 8 inch round tin but you can use a rectangular tin of 30 x 23cm if you want :) Preheat the oven to 160C.

Sift the flour into the bowl and rub the butter into the flour until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs

Then stir in the sugar and sultanas

Peel and core the apples and dice into little cubes...

then add them to the mixture :)

Beat the eggs in a cup and stir them into the mixture with a metal spoon. Only stir it until the egg is mixed in, don't go crazy with the stirring (it makes the cake go flat)

Spoon the mixture into the tin and pop it in the oven until its' golden brown and firm. The recipe says bake for 45 minutes but mine took 2 hours (though that may have something to do with my awful oven...) Cover the top with caster sugar while the cake's still hot

Go make a cup of tea and have a slice of cake - enjoy! :)
